Classes offered by TLC
Grief 101
This interactive introductory class is designed for people from all walks of life who have experienced loss themselves or have found themselves in company of someone else in grief and want to provide comfort and care. In this class we will convey contemporary information about what grief is and what support can look like, as well as teach skills and best practices for supporting yourself and others.
This class will enable you to effectively build upon your knowledge and skills when participating in future TLC classes that specialize in various types of losses.
Being There for Someone in Grief
Every day we encounter people who are struggling because something or someone significant in their life is gone. In a culture that has often taught us to bypass or ignore our grief, navigating these situations does not always come naturally.
In this 2-hour class Marianna Cacciatore will use poetry and teachings from her book, Being There for Someone in Grief, to help us acknowledge the many losses encountered in everyday life, and become more present when we find ourselves in the territory of grief.
Grieving a Loss from Suicide
At some point in your life, you may find yourself in situations where a friend, a co-worker, a neighbor, a client or anyone within your community is grieving the death of someone who has died from suicide. You may want to reach out and provide support, but might not know what to do and might feel afraid of saying the wrong thing.
Join us for a free virtual workshop where we explore how we can show up under these circumstances.
Grieving Divorce, Separation, Breakup
Ending a relationship elicits grief that is both similar and different than grief as a result of death. Education about the many facets of the journey can prepare us for navigating our grief, and that of our children or others, with compassion, care, and understanding.
This class is designed for a person who is experiencing the loss of a significant relationship through divorce, separation, or break-up, as well as those who are supporting friends or family members as they grieve. During this time, we will explore practical, comforting and non-intrusive ways to be there for ourselves and others.
